outer left knee, just above the patella, darkening around the edges-purple when viewed from a distance but up close the red in the lines of the skin and the bluish-in-between. the black-and-blue. worse looking (than feeling).

the rat tail slipping away, inches from my feet, as i descend the stairs to the brooklyn-bound 2 train.

all the rats on st. felix street (me walking in the middle of the street jingling my keys like a completely crazy person).

the dead water bug (again) on the stairs leading out from the 23rd st. C
